A Note on This Beer
Some beers are like comedies: everyone seems to enjoy them.
Other beers are like horror flicks: too dark and intense for the average person.
For dark beer fanatics, today’s black ale is a dream come true. For less adventurous beer drinkers, this one might have you hiding under the covers.
Uinta Brewing Company’s Labyrinth Barrel Aged Quadruple Black Ale is an intimidating beer. Aged in rye barrels and boasting an impressive 13.2% ABV, Labyrinth Barrel Aged Quadruple Black Ale is not for the faint of heart. Labyrinth is a very assertive beer that challenges the palate with flavors of licorice, dark chocolate, and oak.
Despite its extreme flavor profile, Labyrinth’s exceptionally high ratings reflect universal excitement from Imperial Stout lovers and beer aficionados alike.
Labyrinth Barrel Aged Quadruple Black Ale won a gold medal at the NABA in 2011. The beer pours thick and black, with a dark, substantial head and whiskey, roasted aromas. With forward flavors of chocolate malt, Labyrinth is excitingly full-bodied and has a silky, almost oily mouthfeel. Lightly licorice boozy flavors fill in the middle, and a lingering oak finish completes this delicious beer. This beer can overwhelm most food, and is best experienced on its own.
Even the most serious horror buffs don’t watch scary movies alone. We suggest tackling this fantastic beer with at least one other person. If you feel up to exploring the dark side, sit down with a brave friend and see what this beer is made of.
Horror movies and seriously dark beers are not for everyone, but once you develop a taste for the dark stuff… there is really no going back.
