Southern Tier Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
You can soften up Santa with milk and cookies, but if you know what's good for you, you better have a big bad Imperial Helles Lager on hand when Christmas’s bad seed disciplinarian Krampus comes to town.
Being bad tastes oh so delicious when you’re wolfing down Krampus, the piney, bitter 9% ABV Imperial Helles from Southern Tier Brewing Company. These brewers specialize in bold boozy craft beer monstrosities and this demonic brew adds another page to their ratings record books with: 91 from The BeerAdvocate Bros, and a top 40 placing for Imperial Lagers in the world by Ratebeer.
This amber colored tyrant is aged cold for 30 days for an exquisitely clean and invigorating hop brightness. A wreath of pine, Douglas fir, and yew berries delights the nose. A sizeable gulp of Krampus reveals bitter dandelions, European style grassy hops, sweet barley, and honey-bread like Pilsner malts that give it the distinction of a quality made Helles Lager. This clean and complex Helles Lager proves winter beer doesn’t have to be dark. The perfect holiday brew combines easy drinking crispness (to help wash down festive feasts) and big booziness (to boost our tolerance for those relatives we have to endure one too many times a year). The perfect combo is here, and it’s name is KRAMPUS.
