A Note on This Beer
Hopheads are an opinionated group, constantly debating the merits of their favorite IPAs. But when it comes to the greatness of Breakside’s flagship IPA, there’s nothing to argue about—it’s a GABF Gold medal winner with incredible ratings.
Just last October, Breakside’s “Feel Good Flagship” IPA won GABF Gold in the perhaps the festival’s most competitive category: American IPA. It’s an exultant showcase of brewing finesse, balancing the lovely, diverse flavors of Citra and Chinook hops with a substantial malt bill.
Breakside coaxes out an impressive range of flavor and aroma from these two iconic hops. The nose reveals bright tropical, citrus and perfume aromas that emerge from a sea of caramel and biscuit malt. A 70 IBU hop kick provides a steady undercurrent of bitterness that lasts from the first sip to the last gulp. Notes of mango, guava, soursop, orange, grapefruit, apricot and lemon weave in and out of the malts. An impossibly crisp herbal and piney hop finish concludes a parade of delicious Northwest flavors.
Beers like Breakside IPA don’t come around very often—it’s one of the best beers in the world and one of the best values in craft beer. It’s prestigious, distinctive, affordable, easy-drinking and reliable all at once, perfect for impressing your friends or for everyday drinking.
