Taxman Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Citrus notes dusted with candi sugar and pine sprinkled with spice— Belgian IPAs offer hop fans a new and different way to experience the hoppy flavors they crave. Today’s beer from Indiana’s highly regarded Taxman Brewing Company is a prime example: Hop Collector Belgian-style IPA.
One of the most popular of Taxman’s house beers, Hop Collector takes the tropical fruit and pine flavors Amarillo and Simcoe Hops and infuses Belgian-inspired notes of clove to achieve new layers of flavor. The Belgian yeast also contributes to Hop Collector’s bone-dry finish, giving the impression of a skeletal malt body and amping up hop flavors.
A hazy-golden glow emanates from this IPA along with aromas of sweet orange peel spiked with cloves. Flavors of grapefruit, apricot, conifer, and passion fruit mingle with hints of Candi sugar, all wrapped in layer of resinous mango. The melange of fruit is cleansed by a dry, mineral-like finish, leaving a lingering bitter on the palate.
GABF award winning Taxman Brewing uses authentic techniques they honed while studying in Belgium to create unique entry points to American brewing flavors, just like in Hop Collector IPA. Rarely found outside of Indiana, few in the craft beer world have had the chance to try this innovative brewery. Here’s a shot for IPA fans to taste Taxman’s inspired brews.
