Grappa Barrel Aged Blonde
Hof Ten Dormaal
A Note on This Beer
Hof Ten Dormaal’s Grappa Barrel-Aged Belgian Blond Ale is the first and only grappa barrel aged beers we’ve ever tasted! Grappa is an elite wine-based liquor only made in Italy, and since most are non-oaked, Grappa barrels are one of the hardest to find. We had to go to a European brewer to get this some of this one time batch of 1024 bottles.
Grappa captures every last drop of aromatic grape essence; it’s made with the grape-juice-saturated skins, seed, and stems leftover from wine production. Hof Ten Dormaal designs a 12% ABV tart Belgian Farmhouse Ale made in a century old Belgian farmhouse to maximize the fragrant qualities of this special liquor.
Nutty notes of sherry show Grappa’s long 18 month barrel exposure. Tart green grapes from Hof Ten’s cultures chime in before the tanginess of apricots drops a long lingering fruitiness on the palate. Finally a refreshing note of woody herbs comes through from the Grappa. This is a finely tuned tincture full of old world charm.
Bring this individually boxed treasure to your next dinner gathering and your guests will experience an elegant, liquored-up tradition that dates back to the Romans. Drink it after dinner as a digestif, and its boozy powers will relax you in no time.
