Grandfather Raven Imperial Stout
Black Raven Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
The dark beer experts at Seattle’s award-winning Black Raven Brewing just released two of the season’s most highly-anticipated and beloved brews: Coco Jones Coconut Porter and Grandfather Raven Imperial Stout.
Coco Jones - A World Beer Cup Gold winner, Coco Jones flaunts the brewery's tenacious use of coconut. Headbrewer Beaux Bowman lightly toasts the coconut to extract its flavorous oils before adding to a Brown Porter base.
Rich, hazelnut-like maltiness enrobes the coconut’s distinct tropical sweetness with mentions of vanilla. Released just once a year, Coco Jones appearance is borderline mirage as fans horde every bottle they can. To ensure the delicate coconut flavors are enjoyed at their full potential, enjoy fresh! (Bottled on 12-1-15. 94 on RateBeer.)
Grandfather Raven - Despite stiff competition from fellow imperial heavyweights, Grandfather Raven is considered by insiders to be one of the Northwest’s best Imperial Stouts. Behind this 9.5% ABV black elixir is Black Raven’s impeccable malt infrastructure.
2-Row provides a full body, while Crystal lends a burnt sugar sweetness. Chocolate and Carafa echo bittersweet cocoa, notes of espresso, and cured tobacco essence. Delicious now or cellar it! (99 on RateBeer; 90 on BeerAdvocate)
Showcasing Black Raven’s masterful expertise, these beers are essential drinking for any dark beer enthusiast. Make sure to grab a few bottles of these extra limited releases so you’ll have plenty of celebration fuel to last through the season - Dark Beer Season.
