A Note on This Beer
Ask any of the top-rated American Saison breweries where they got their inspiration and they’ll all drop names from Belgian Godfathers of the style.
Brasserie Fantôme is one of those Godfathers. And they’re rated among Untappd’s Top 25 Breweries in Belgium, up there with the likes of Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen.
Fantôme is known for its unique variations on the Saison style — they often use herbs, spices or fruit juice. Within the craft beer community, Fantôme’s brews are considered Saison Gold and many of them, including today’s Ghost in the Kettle 4-Way Collaboration Spiced Saison are searched for by thirsty fans on countless trade forums.
This brew in particular is sought after in part because of how rarely 4-way collaborations happen. Fantôme teamed up with 3 other award-winning Belgian Saison specialists: Barley Forge, Saint Somewhere, and Beancurdturtle Brewing to create this 7.1% ABV spiced refresher.
Ghost in the Kettle is complex, with notes of earthy citrus, white pepper, and an herbal finish. And it’s incredibly easy to drink way too much of! It’d be no problem to down an entire 750ml bottle on your own while lounging on the beach or reading under a shady tree on a sunny day.
Share it with friends that appreciate masterfully crafted beer, cool down with the whole bottle on your own, or buy 2 and trade one for another Belgian Saison you’ve been dying to try. Do whatever you want with it, no one else tracked it down, you did — and who knows when you’ll ever find it again.
