A Note on This Beer
For almost a decade, New Zealand’s 8 Wired Brewing Company has been shaking up the Southern Hemisphere with their jam-packed spectrum of barrel-aged Sours. Brewed with Marlborough Cherries and aged in red wine barrels, A Fistful of Cherries shows you why they were given the country’s highest brewing honor: Champion Brewery of New Zealand.
The region of Marlborough is widely known for its abundance of vinous fruit. Along with luscious tart cherries, this treasured spot also produces some of the best Sauvignon Blanc wines in the world. And you can definitely taste these vibrant tannin characteristics in A Fistful of Cherries.
Pouring a pale, hazy ruby hue and wafts out of the glass with -- just like its namesake -- a fistful of cherries. Tasting this tart sour is like biting into a piece of succulent cherry pie. Mild Belgian Kriek tones are balanced by a smooth oakiness. On the Tavour Sour Scale, 1 being barely sour and 5 being over the top pucker, we put this one right in the middle next to Goldilocks.
Internationally, New Zealand locals are nicknamed “Kiwis.” Drink like a Kiwi and enjoy this fragrant cherry sour creation from one of New Zealand’s best breweries. Or put it in the cellar and bring it out on a day when you could use a little cherry sunshine.
