Fermentation Without Representation Imperial Pumpkin Porter
Epic Brewing Co
A Note on This Beer
So many of us relied on Elysian Brewing Co. for our seasonal pumpkin beer fix. But as craft beer fans, we want to support small, local operations that remain true to their roots. So when they took the Anheuser-Busch route, we were left in the lurch – where can we turn for quality, festive-fresh pumpkin beers?
Epic Brewing has stayed committed to its founding principal of small batch, artisanal beer and each bottle is numbered and stamped. Their Fermentation Without Representation Imperial Pumpkin Porter (FWR) is an 8% ABV nosedive of pure gourd heaven riddled with spices and smooth dark chocolate dryness. An elite installation of the brewery’s award winning Exponential Series, this beer fully embraces its pumpkin heritage while departing from the sweet pumpkin pie trope the style is known for.
Originally conceived as the brewery’s first collaboration beer with East Coast hotshots DC Brau Brewing, FWR is an all out flavor fest of 200 pounds of pure pumpkin, five select spices and whole Madagascar vanilla beans. Epic showcases the unfiltered taste of squash alongside the chocolate-rich notes of the Porter in unadulterated fall flavor – like a roasted pumpkin bonfire sprinkled with graham cracker, cocoa, allspice and cinnamon.
It’s hard to cope without your old fall favorites but how great is it when you get to fall in love with something new? FWR is primed to accept your adoration – it will broaden your pumpkin beer range with depth of roast and flavor. Let it sit and warm and the spices will shine, filling the room like a lit Yankee candle – but this limited specialty is a lot more fun to drink.
