A Note on This Beer
Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, 9,200- acre estate Blackberry Farm Resort is the premier destination for all things gourmet. Their James Beard Award winning restaurant The Barn, attracts renowned chefs from across the country. And the biggest press-garnering draw is the resort’s brewery.
Blackberry Farm Brewery's newest project capturing each season in an elegantly crafted Saison. Fall Saison is a bold and immensely flavorful take on this classic style, brewed with rye and aged on oak.
This series has already received wide acclaim: Summer Saison won a silver medal at this year’s GABF. Early community ratings suggest that Fall might be their next award contender, with a heartier body and malt-forward character, it reinvents the Saison anew.
Fall’s russet-copper hue comes from rye malts which gives this Saison a distinctive malty flavor. Sweet notes of toffee and baked apples dance upfront in a palate both hearty and sleek, built for Autumn’s cooling temperatures. After aging on American white oak, hints of woody vanilla and dusty caramel come through to round out the palate. Rye malt adds a dash of spiciness to the peppery Saison yeast character, just before a finish as dry and crisp as autumn leaves.
Blackberry Farm is bringing outside attention to the craft beer world with its farm-to-table approach to brewing. Forbes, Wine Enthusiast, and Bon Appetite have praised Blackberry Farm’s complex and culinary ales. Taking advantage of this national platform, Blackberry Farm Brewing is redefining the Saison.
