A Note on This Beer
Deep in the misty mountains of Vancouver, WA, Loowit Brewing chooses an exceptionally rare style to barrel age in their Dwarven Forge Imperial Red Ale, resulting in a uniquely citrusy, cocktail-like brew with a candied orange peel and brandied cherry bite.
With a 4.02 on Untappd, Barrel-aged fans declare their love for this 8% ABV caramelly bourbon barrel-aged limited release. The Red Ale base provides a bounty of crisp resinous citrus that is enhanced by stone fruit of the barrels. Like a finely-crafted Old Fashioned cocktail, you could down it in the middle of Mordor’s sweltering lava tunnels and still feel refreshed.
A dark ruby chestnut supports a lofty pillow of tan cream. Brown sugar caramel aromas partner with bourbon-soaked, flame-singed raisins. Bitter orange peel unfurls on the palate into spicy oak and whiskey-infused bread pudding. Dried cherry elements gives a slight berry-sweet tang before it finishes with a dry, crisp and quenching blast of bubbles.
Go on a beer vacation to Portland, OR and unless you have a knowledgeable guide, you’ll likely pass over all the treasures hidden right next door in Vancouver, including Dwarven Forge. We’ve stashed this brew away for 6 months to bring it’s boozy whiskey bite into perfect balance with its bold fruit character.
