A Note on This Beer
Oktoberfest’s here, and it’s not just about sweet malty beer - you can eat your pretzel and have your hops too. Behold: Bronx Brewery’s Concrete Peaks Oktoberfest, a hoppy ale perfectly fit to enjoy alongside a Schnitzel.
Bronx Brewery stands out in the hustle and bustle of NYC with their pace-setting, hop-forward Pale Ales. For their first Oktoberfest, they’ve teamed up with Denver’s resident German Experts Spangalang Brewery to craft a festive brew for the hop-obsessed.
Spangalang’s focus on German-inspired ales is a harmonious match with Bronx’s hop-indulgent leanings. The resulting beer is one that both pays homage to the Oktoberfest style while bringing a Pale Ale sensibility to the table.
Concrete Peaks pours a rich amber color, and right away you’ll notice from the aroma this is a hop-lover’s dream Oktoberfest. Fruity, citrusy notes from Mandarina Bavaria Hops burst from the glass. As you sip, admire Peaks’ caramel maltiness colliding with subtle orange provided by German Hersbrucker Hops. Conventional Oktoberfest flavors like toffee take a backseat to tangerine and papaya, and Concrete Peaks finishes with a soft floral bitterness from Mosaic Hops.
For Hopheads that find the Märzen-heavy month alienating, Concrete Peaks is a perfect substitute. And at an easy 6% ABV, you can easily have a few before you drift into a Lederhosen doze.
