A Note on This Beer
Check out today’s Top Tavour Pick! Straight from Belgium, you can’t find this limited edition brew in any U.S. bottleshop. It’s brewed with English Hops and French Chardonnay barrels, in the Scottish style, so each sip is like a whirlwind tour of Europe!
Europe has plenty of redeeming qualities, like reasonable drinking ages, a colorful mix of cultures, and of course, awesome beer. But it’s SO far away, and most folks just can’t make it very often. Luckily there’s a Belgium-made brew that drinks like a tour of Europe, all from the comfort of the couch.
This limited edition will never show up in any U.S. bottle shop — but Tavour has you covered.
What’s so special about this beer, you ask? Each year, Brasserie de Silly takes their signature Scotch Ale and barrel ages it in a different way. This year’s special edition was aged in French Chardonnay barrels for oaky dryness and vinous aromas.
The brewery’s proprietary yeast imparts classic Belgian flavors including stone fruit and banana — all of it is drenched in an boozy 10% ABV. The OG Euro brewers use English Hops from Kent, a tradition adopted by the breweries after all Belgium’s hop fields were destroyed in WWI. And the Scotch Ale base rounds out the body with notes of caramel and biscuit.
Each sip is like a whirlwind tour of Europe, except without having to empty your bank account or dodge hordes of street performers!
Brewed one time only, we recommend grabbing this Europe-in-a-bottle brew before it disappears forever.
