A Note on This Beer
Okay, craft class, here’s a critical thinking question for you:
What do you do when you have not one, but two highly-rated dark brews that are beloved by craft fans across the Garden State and beyond?
If you’re the brewers at New Jersey’s Alementary, you add them together to make one big n’ boozy super Stout!
The result is today’s super luscious, chocolate-dipped coconut cookie of a beer. The Best of Craft Beer Award-winners started with the base of their popular Launchpad Oatmeal Stout. Then, they conditioned it with double the real Papua New Guinea coffee beans and fresh coconut that they normally use it their also-popular Porterico Porter.
The name of this 10% ABV equation? Arecibo Imperial Oatmeal Milk Stout!
One sip, and it’s obvious Alementary totally nailed the math. Arecibo floods the palate with coffee and molasses-touched coconut. Oatmeal makes for a full, almost chewy body while a hefty dose of lactose adds ultra-lush creaminess.
Don’t worry, there’s not gonna be a quiz afterward. But it will help to know this stuff when you call up your friends to play hooky. Crack open a couple of cans of Arecibo, and they’ll all want to know what’s causing those sweet, nutty, espresso aromas.
While you’re at it, let ‘em know that Vacation Idea Magazine named Alementary one of the Best Breweries in New Jersey. Considering there are now 100 breweries in the state and counting, that’s like saying they’re among Jersey’s Ivy League of craft!
Yes, Arecibo’s booze-soaked silky goodness alone is sure to leave your buds astounded. But hey, you can always impress them further with your A+ worthy craft knowledge!
