Adroit Theory Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
There were two innovative elements that made us want to try Adroit Theory Brewing Company’s Angel’s Trumpet Mango IPA:
1. It’s brewed with two different types of real mangoes.
2. It uses exotic hops we rarely see in the United States.
Southern Cross and Dr. Rudi Hops – two uncommonly used high-alpha New Zealand varietals – are paired with generous amounts of real mango puree and Amchur green mango powder to create a jungle cruise of fresh citrus peel, bitter pine and juicy guava. The nectarous allure of Citra Hops adds another layer of pure tropical fever.
Using 2.5 pounds per barrel of mango puree towards the end of fermentation, the brewery amplifies the beer’s fruit forward nature. The Amchur powder creates a kaleidoscope flavor effect by giving the beer’s plush juiciness persistent infusions of tart, under ripe fruit rinds. Grassy crisp lemon from Dr. Rudi Hops complements Southern Cross’s resiny bitter.
Adroit Theory has a reputation for using extreme means to create memorable, adventurous flavors. Angel’s Trumpet introduces us to untapped hop flavors most American brewers wish they could get their hands on – creating a divine instrument of flavor that’s sure to strike a chord for all IPA fans.
