A Note on This Beer
In the mystic realm of Sour Ales, stone fruits have the power to awaken the purest lip-puckering, palate-stirring magic. Sour specialists Paradox Beer Company tap into this energy toconjure up a beacon of fruity tartness: Alchemy Stones, an 8.4% ABV Wild Sour Golden Fruit Ale brewed with nectarines and apricots and aged in white wine barrels.
An alchemy stone is a mythical stone with the power to produce gold, and it seems like Paradox got a hold of one to craft this juicy golden sour potion. The 52nd in their limited Skully Barrel Sour series, Alchemy Stones is a testament to their Wild Ale-crafting prowess. It’s already earned a 4.11 on Untappd!
Alchemy pours a glowing golden-orange nectar, and aromatics of ripe tangy apricots whirl from your goblet. Wild cultures energize the palate and tart notes of overripe stone fruits invigorate your senses. Paradox re-fermented this brew in white wine barrels with grilled nectarines and apricots, coaxing out succulent stone fruit flesh and a perfectly crisp mineral finish. The 8.4% ABV disappears in this medley of sour and tart without a trace, suggesting Paradox has harnessed some sort of dark sorcery to create Alchemy Stones.
While we’re pretty sure Paradox didn’t use a cauldron for this brew, we’re not counting it out either. Pick up a bottle for your next Illuminati tasting event to astonish your supernaturally sour compatriots.
